Club Operations Update May 22, 2020
May 22nd 2020 - Dear Ocean Edge Club Members,

Per the Governor’s reopening plan for the State of Massachusetts, on Monday, May 25, 2020, tennis operations, beach operations and outdoor activity programming can resume at the Club.   Earlier today, I have received the guidelines that have been approved by the Town of Brewster with respect to each operation, and I wanted to provide to you a brief update on what to expect.

Please note that our goal and intent is to open each facility safely, following strict protocols that will open the Club at a pace that makes operational sense.  Adherence to all State and Local guidelines is of utmost importance and under no circumstances can we allow anyone to do otherwise.
Tennis Operations
Tennis can be played safely and can resume operations on Monday, May 25 under the following guidelines.
  • Hours of Operation are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Members and Guests are required to secure a court time by calling the tennis shop at 774-323-6060
  • Members and Guests are required to wear a mask at the time of check-in.  Please maintain 6-feet of social spacing at all times as required by the State regulations
  • Singles play is encouraged.  Doubles play is permitted, as long as the playing partners are family members living in the same household
  • Within the gated courts, a maximum number of players and attendant can be no greater than 10.  Example, courts 1, 2 and 3 can have a maximum of ten players because these three courts are enclosed by the one surrounding fence.
  • The gates to the courts shall remain open throughout the day to eliminate an additional common touch point
  • Players will not change ends between sets or games
  • Players must use their own equipment.  Neither demo racquets nor rental racquets are permitted, therefore will not be available.
  • Players must use their own tennis balls and have distinctively marked to identify which tennis balls belong to each player.
  • All common touch points on the tennis court have been removed, such as score tenders, brushes, ball tubes and water jugs
  • Players must bring their own water bottles and hand towels
  • The benches between the courts have a sanitizing spray available.  Please use the sanitizing spray prior to placing any personal belongings on the bench
  • Tennis lessons will be available at the start of Phase II, which is currently projected to be June 8.  When tennis lessons are made available, only individual or family lessons.  Group lessons, clinics and round robins are not permitted during Phase II.
  • The Bay Pines restrooms must remain closed through Phase I.
As an outdoor, open space activity, tennis can be played safely by following the above detailed guidelines.  All protocols are being strictly enforced for your safety and the safety of others.  If for any reason you feel sick or unable to maintain the conditions of play, please refrain from playing.

Outdoor Fitness Offerings
Effective for Monday, May 25, updated guidelines have been put in place to enhance outdoor fitness programming and activities.
  • Class sizes remain limited to 10, 9 participants plus the instructor
  • During classes, spacing must be 12-feet or greater between participants
  • Each outdoor class will also be available for Zoom at home class workouts
  • All participants must use their own personal equipment.  Ocean Edge cannot provide equipment or have shared equipment
  • The fitness instruction will maintain and control social distancing at all times
  • Registration is required for each class so that size limitations can be implemented
  • Members are required to wear a face mask upon arriving to the fitness class.  Members participating in the class do not need to wear the face mask during the work out as long as 12-feet of space is between participants
  • Please log onto the Club website or Facebook page for an updated fitness schedule for next week.
I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation in maintaining these standards as we safely open Club facilities.  We will be closely monitoring each venue and tailoring each operation to maintain best practices and protocols for your enjoyment and safety.

It is my pleasure to welcome you back to the Club and please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance.

Thank you and stay safe,
